The Miami Heat head to DC on Saturday to face the Washington Wizards for the second-straight game, but one of their key bench players will not be traveling. Markieff Morris, who was involved in a nasty altercation with Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic last week, is still feeling the after-effects of whiplash. Via Wes Goldberg:

The Heat sharpshooter gave the Joker an illegal shove as he was bringing the ball up the court and Jokic retaliated with serious aggression, blindsiding Morris:

That happened on November 8th and Morris hasn't played since. The MVP was suspended for a game and both players were ejected after the incident. After back-to-back losses to the Lakers and Clippers, the Heat went on a four-game winning streak without Morris though, and will be looking to extend it against Washington, whom they beat on Thursday night in South Beach.

Morris, who signed with Miami in the offseason after 1.5 seasons with the Lakers, is averaging 7.7 points and 2.8 rebounds on 36% shooting from downtown in 2020/21. He's playing 18.7 minutes per game and has given the Heat more depth from long range.

Whiplash is definitely a painful injury and it appears his neck is still not fully recovered. His brother Marcus even got into it with the Jokic Brothers on social media, which blew up NBA Twitter as the two sides exchange blows. The Heat have a rematch with the Nuggets on November 29th. That will certainly be interesting.
