Miami Heat guard Chris Silva had to sacrifice everything just to achieve his NBA dream. His hard work has paid off, as the Heat are set to reward him by upgrading his two-way contract into a standard three-year deal, per Barry Jackson of the MiaChris mi Herald.

Apart from locking up the 23-year-old Gabonese forward to a long-term deal, the Heat are also expected to sign a new two-way player. Each NBA team is currently allowed a maximum of two two-way players at a time.

Miami will likely retain 3-point specialist Gabe Vincent and pluck another player from their affiliate G League Sioux Falls Skyforce as Silva's replacement.

After going undrafted this year, Silva has been splitting time with the Skyforce and the Heat in his first year as a pro. The 6-foot-8 forward has appeared in 30 games for Miami so far, with modest averages of 3.5 points and 3.1 rebounds while shooting 69.1 percent from the field in just under 10 minutes per game.

Silva made headlines last month when the Heat gave him the best Christmas present ever, reuniting him with his mother whom he hasn't seen in three years.

The Heat, meanwhile, continue to be this season's surprise team, holding a 27-12 record for third place in the Eastern Conference. Miami has received valuable contributions from almost everyone in the roster, while everyone seems to be on the same page thanks in large part to the franchise's amazing culture.

Chris Silva's grit and determination to succeed is truly an inspiration, and the Heat could certainly learn from his tale of perseverance to fuel their possible playoff run.
