On Tuesday evening, the Miami Heat officially retired the No. 1 jersey of former NBA power forward Chris Bosh, enshrining the former big man in the rafters forever.

A two-time NBA Champion as a member of the Heat, Bosh has now formally joined the likes of Alonzo Mourning, Shaquille O'Neal and Tim Hardaway as the only players to ever have their jerseys retired by the Eastern Conference franchise.

Bosh saw his jersey rise to the rafters with the Heat taking on the Orlando Magic at American Airlines Arena.

“I am proud that Chris will have his No. 1 jersey retired and be honored inside the AmericanAirlines Arena with this recognition for the greatness as a player on the court and his tremendous contributions to the Miami community off the court,” said Heat team president Pat Riley back in February, via NBA.com. “His name and jersey will hang forever and always.”

Bosh was originally acquired by Miami in a trade with the Toronto Raptors in July 2010. Re-signing with the once heralded franchise in July 2014, the veteran big man ultimately spent six seasons with Miami en route to helping the Heat win back-to-back NBA Championships in 2012 and 2013. He also helped lead the Heat to five postseason berths in all during his time in South Beach.

Of course, soon-to-be former Heat shooting guard Dwyane Wade will surely be the next member of the Eastern Conference franchise to have his jersey lifted up into the rafters.

Wade is currently in the midst of his final NBA season.
