The Miami Heat have won four straight games and are right in the thick of the race for the top spot in the Eastern Conference. They are 22-13 on the season and have looked every bit as good as their record this season. Earlier this week, the Heat placed point guard Kyle Lowry into the league's health and safety COVID-19 protocols. However, because of the new protocols, Miami got some good news Friday.

According to Miami Herald reporter Anthony Chiang, Lowry has cleared protocols and will be available to play Friday night.

Lowry is in his first season with the Miami Heat after spending the last nine seasons with the Toronto Raptors. Lowry, alongside Kawai Leonard, helped end Toronto's championship drought, winning the NBA Championship in the 2018-2019 season.

Prior to his time with Toronto, Lowry spent three years a piece with Houston and Memphis.

The grizzled veteran rejoins a group primed to make a deep run in the postseason. Led by small forward Jimmy Butler, the Heat have championship aspirations and Lowry brings the championship pedigree. The Heat have got big improvements from both Tyler Herro and Duncan Robinson this season, helping round out their rotation.

The team took a big blow earlier in the season when it was announced that starting center Bam Adebayo would miss more than a month with a torn Ulnar Collateral Ligament in his right thumb. Prior to his injury, Adebayo was dominating the paint. He averaged over 18 points and 10 rebounds per game.

With the Heat playing the Rockets Friday, there is the likelihood that Lowry's minutes are restricted. The Rockets are one of the worst teams in the NBA.
