The Miami Heat have not had the most convincing start to their season. They’re just 2-3 through five games and are currently on a two-game losing skid after home losses to the San Antonio Spurs and the Boston Celtics.

According to the Sun Sentinel’s Ira Winderman, the team took some time to voice their concerns to one another about their slow start during a recent meeting.

“We had our discussions this morning,” forward James Johnson said. “We aired it out this morning. A lot of people took heat. I think it was the best thing for us to do, even more important than film. That's what this culture is about, that's what we're about — staring guys in the eyes, telling guys the truth and that's how you show you really love somebody.”

The Heat have been without star big man Hassan Whiteside for four of their first five games this season after he suffered a bone bruise in his knee. His absence has likely been a major factor in their slow start, as they have turned to the likes of Jordan Mickey and rookie Bam Adebayo to play significant minutes.

The Heat don’t appear keen to make Whiteside’s absence an excuse for their disappointing play, though. They still have enough talent to succeed without him, and after clearing the air during their meeting, they should all be on the same page moving forward.
