It's official, Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade has retired.

Aside from his three NBA championships, Olympic gold medal and 13 All-Star appearances, Wade will be remembered for how phenomenal he was as a player. He is widely considered as one of the three best shooting guards in the history of the game, and NBA analyst Skip Bayless even said that Wade was ‘Michael Jordan-esque' during his prime.

There is no doubt that Dwyane Wade was one of the most lethal scorers during his prime, but he also made a reputation as one of the best shot-blocking guards in the history of the NBA. At 6-foot-3, D-Wade's presence on the defensive end during his prime made him look like a frontcourt player rather than a guard.

When Michael Jordan was still leading the Bulls to championships, not only was he almost unstoppable on offense, but he was also a terrific defender. He was never intimidated by anyone who was bigger or taller than him. Instead, it was the other way around. MJ was definitely a cut above the rest.

And for Wade to be compared to the player that millions consider as the Greatest of All Time says a lot about what he was able to accomplish during his 17-year career. Sure, D-Wade will never be considered better than MJ, but he's definitely not that far behind in terms of overall talent.
