The NBA recently asked members of the 2019 draft to vote on their classmates in several categories. As part of their deliberations, the rookies recognized Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro as the best shooter in this year's draft.

Via NBA.com:

Which rookie is the best shooter?

1. Tyler Herro, Miami — 33%

2. Kyle Guy, Sacramento — 29%

3. Cameron Johnson, Phoenix — 13%

4. Ty Jerome, Phoenix — 8%

5. Jordan Poole, Golden State — 4%

Others receiving votes: Ignas Brazdeikis, New York; Carsen Edwards, Boston; Darius Garland, Cleveland; Zion Williamson, New Orleans; Dylan Windler, Cleveland

Herro, now 19 years of age, is indeed a great shooter. During his senior year at Whitnall High School in Greenfield Wisconsin, he averaged 32.9 points on 50.0 percent shooting from the floor and 43.5 percent from the 3-point line.

Though he verbally committed to Wisconsin, Herro ultimately decided to play his collegiate ball at the University of Kentucky, where he was recognized as the SEC's Newcomer of the Year by The Associated Press. In 37 appearances with the Wildcats, he racked up averages of 14.0 points on 46.2 percent shooting (35.5 percent from beyond the arc), 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.1 steals in 32.6 minutes per outing.

The Heat selected Herro with the 13th overall pick in this year's draft. His first taste of action with the team came during Summer League play, where he posted 18 points and four assists:

Miami finished the 2018-19 season with a 39-43 overall record, which left the team out of the playoff hunt. Hopefully, with the addition of Herro and Jimmy Butler, the Heat will find their way back into the postseason.
