Dwyane Wade is at a crucial point of his offseason, standing in the midst of buyout talks with his hometown Chicago Bulls after the team has chosen to rebuild starting this season, brewing talks of his potential return to South Beach and the Miami Heat.

Former teammate Udonis Haslem has not only kept in touch with Wade this offseason, but accompanied to do his promotional tour in China — offering for his 2003 draftmate to take negotiations one day at a time.

“I talk to D-Wade every day,” Haslem told Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel. “My advice to D-Wade and his advice has always been to me is, ‘Take it one day at a time. Just take it one day at a time, step by step.”

“We kind of understand the direction that Chicago is going in. We kind of understand the direction that Dwyane wants to go in the last couple of years of his career. The business side of things sometimes doesn't always allow both sides to co-exist.”

Miami has a loaded backcourt with Goran Dragic, the newly re-signed Dion Waiters, Tyler Johnson, Josh Richardson, Rodney McGruder, and Wayne Ellington — making his return a rather difficult fit in the roster.

Waiters has been more than willing to welcome his mentor, a very different approach than a proposition of having Kyrie Irving as a backcourt partner — yet fitting him into this growing equation can prove troublesome for his former coach Erik Spoelstra.

“My advice to him is — ‘Hey, we'd love to have you, but take it one step at a time, take it one day at a time, and be involved with what's going on with your family,” Haslem said. “I think the situation with Chicago and everything that's going on, it's just a frustrating situation on both sides.”
