Udonis Haslem is the oldest player in the NBA right now. He's turning 42 on Thursday and he just completed his 19th season in the league. At this point, it is only natural to ask questions about his plan to finally call it a career.

Right now, though, Haslem isn't ready to plan his retirement party just yet. When asked about his intention to return for next season, the three-time NBA champ hinted that this still remains to be a possibility:

“As usual, I’ll take my time, sit down with the family, Pat, Micky [Arison, the team owner] and talk about what’s next and where it goes,” Haslem said (h/t Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel).

Haslem also revealed that he's still hurting after the Heat were eliminated by the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals. The 6-foot-8 big man says that right now, he needs to take a step back to consider all his options:

“I want to be playing right now,” he said. “But ain’t get what I want. I want to still be playing. So I’m not getting what I want in the moment. So right now it’s time to take a mental break and then figure that out, after that.”

Udonis Haslem is far from a star — he barely even takes the court for the Heat these days. However, what cannot be denied is that he is still an integral part of this group. It would not be a surprise if he returns for his 20th season in 2022-23.
