The Miami Heat were one win away from reaching the NBA Finals. Victor Oladipo had a hand in the deep playoff run. On Thursday, the Heat rewarded him and have re-signed Oladipo to a one-year $11 million contract, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.

The deal is almost entirely based off of what the Heat saw from him during the playoffs. In particular, it was really what he did in the Eastern Conference Finals vs. the Boston Celtics. Tyler Herro missed much of that series with a strained left groin. Without the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year in the rotation, the Heat were in need of a boost from someone.

Oladipo was that someone. His offensive production was inconsistent, but where he truly made his mark was on the defensive end. Oladipo had three games with multiple steals, including a Game 3 win when he ripped four steals from Boston. He did a great job staying in front of both Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart when he matched up with them.

The Heat expect Herro to be fully healthy when next season rolls around. But it was nice to see that Oladipo can still make a difference. He only played in eight regular season games this past season. Oladipo averaged 12.4 points, 3.5 assists and 2.9 rebounds per game. He had the best shooting year of his career, knocking down a career-high 41.9 percent from beyond the arc. Of course, that's likely in part because of the lack of games played.

Nevertheless, the Heat are looking to run it back and make another run at the NBA Finals. Earlier Thursday, news broke the Kevin Durant requested a trade from the Nets. He reportedly has a list of two teams he prefers to go to. The Miami Heat is one of them.
