After playing just four games for the Miami Heat following a trade deadline move from the Houston Rockets, Victor Oladipo’s season appears to be done.

Miami confirmed on Wednesday that Oladipo has opted to undergo season-ending surgery on his right quadriceps:

This is unfortunate for Oladipo and the Heat. Getting the former Pacers star at the deadline was seen as a solid move for the team, giving them more backcourt depth and a chance for Oladipo to find his form of the past.

He averaged just 12 points and 3.5 assists for Miami in his small stint with Erik Spoelstra’s squad. Nevertheless, the Heat should be just fine without him. They just won back-to-back games against the Celtics and basically have a top-six seed already wrapped up for the playoffs.

Miami has gone 7-3 in their last 10 contests but they will have two tough meetings ahead with the Philadelphia 76ers and the Milwaukee Bucks.

As for Oladipo, his future seems very uncertain in South Beach as he becomes a free agent this summer. Obviously, the 29-year-old didn’t get much of a chance to showcase his talents because of an injury. However, it’s important to note that this is the same quad that he previously underwent surgery on back in the 2018/19 season.

It seems unlikely the Heat would give him a new deal, but it will be interesting to see what happens with the two-time All-Star in Free Agency.

With the injuries piling up over the last couple of years, Victor Oladipo’s future is looking very murky.
