The Miami Heat have tried to trade Josh McRoberts  since last season's trade deadline, but have been unsuccessful at every attempt.

According to the Sun Sentinel, a source close to the Heat says the team “quite literally could not even give McRoberts away”.

It was well known the Heat were looking for a trade partner for McRoberts, in hopes of clearing enough cap space to accommodate star Dwyane Wade to a better salary, but that situation ended when the Heat were unable to move him.

McRoberts is owed $5.7 million this coming season, and the Heat will have to eat his salary unless they comply with the asking price of Justise Winslow, or a draft pick in addition to McRoberts.

He has been limited to 42 games in 2015-16, and 17 games in the season before that due to a knee injury.  The asking price was likely high because McRoberts appears to be a player frequently injured, only playing 70 games twice in nine seasons in the league.

Josh McRoberts can opt out of his four year deal next summer if he desires. The Heat are left to whatever he chooses, and if they decide to waive him prior to his contract ending, his salary will still count against the salary cap.
