The Miami Heat have not had much progress with regard to their reported desire to bring Kevin Durant to South Beach. KD has already identified the Heat as one of his preferred destinations, but at this point, trade talks have yet to really materialize.

This likely has a lot to do with Brooklyn's extremely high asking price for the former league MVP, which quite frankly, isn't all that surprising. The Heat have likely been reluctant to give in to the Nets' demands, which has led to a rather extended impasse between the two sides.

At this point, however, the Heat could be more amenable to giving in to the Nets, at least to a certain extent. According to an anonymous NBA scout, Miami might be willing to include All-Star big man Bam Adebayo in a potential trade package for Durant:

“If you’re the Heat, you make that trade, even if you need to include Simmons. If you have an opportunity to get a player like Kevin Durant, you do it. From my relationship with Pat Riley, I believe the Heat would make that trade [including Adebayo] if given the option,” the unnamed source told Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. “I’m not sure that would be enough for Brooklyn.

“As good as Bam is, I don’t think he will be a league MVP and multiple-time All-Star like Durant. Bam needs to become a better scorer. Durant’s age is a hindrance to some but not to Miami. They’ve gotten the most out of guys up in age. Durant and Jimmy put you in the immediate conversation with championship level teams.”

This hypothetical trade scenario also sees Ben Simmons making the move to Miami along with KD. The Heat will be giving up Adebayo as well as a handful of other assets in order to make this deal work. It might be a steep price to pay for Pat Riley and his front office, but in the end, it might prove all worth it.
