The Miami Heat have been making quite a bit of noise of late with the free agency window on the verge of opening. Right now, the latest player that is being linked to a move to South Beach is Milwaukee Bucks fan-favorite Bobby Portis.

According to Wes Goldberg of the Miami Herald, the Heat are expected to register interest in Portis once free agency opens, along with in-demand big man Mo Bamba of the Orlando Magic:

As the report suggests, however, the Bucks are still considered to be the frontrunner to re-sign Portis. Milwaukee is reportedly willing to offer the 27-year-old a new deal in the range of $40 million for four years. The Heat won't be able to match that offer, but they are still hoping to poach Portis from Giannis Antetokounmpo and Co.

Portis, a member of the Bucks' 2021 championship team, had another tremendous season last year. He averaged 14.6 points on 47.9 percent shooting, 9.2 rebounds, and 1.2 assists, while also connecting on 1.8 triples per game at a 39.3-percent clip. The 6-foot-10 big man stepped in excellently as the Bucks' starting center with Brook Lopez missing a significant chunk of the campaign due to injury.
