Make no mistake about it. The Miami Heat are serious about their pursuit for another superstar this summer. This could come in the form of either Kevin Durant or Donovan Mitchell — two players that are both on the trade block and have both been heavily linked to Miami.

As it is, however, it does not seem as though Miami possesses the necessary assets to make either of these deals work. Unsurprisingly, both the Brooklyn Nets and the Utah Jazz are demanding a major haul for their respective superstars. This isn't preventing the Heat from working their way to a potential blockbuster deal, though.

According to NBA insider Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, Pat Riley and his front office could be in the market for future draft picks that they intend to include in a trade package for either KD or Mitchell:

“I have been told from multiple people that Miami is trying to go find multiple picks to either send to Utah for Donovan Mitchell or to send to Brooklyn for Kevin Durant,” Fischer said.

The Heat appear to have faced a wall in terms of their trade negotiations with both Brooklyn and Utah. They currently do not have the necessary capital these teams are asking for. However, instead of getting desuaded, Miami appears to be motovated to acquire the said assets from other teams. This just goes to show how serious Pat Riley is about bringing either KD or Mitchell to South Beach as they look to contend for the title this coming season.
