The NBA free agency this offseason is expected to be a relatively quiet one, especially since this year’s group of free agents lack a player of the caliber of LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard, or Kevin Durant. But one player who has been rumored to be on the move is Indiana Pacers guard Victor Oladipo, a former All-Star, who has been linked to trades with the Miami Heat and other teams.

The Heat are fresh from an improbable run to the NBA Finals as the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference. The Heat are one of just a few teams in the league that have the talent and assets for a potential trade with the Pacers, and the 28-year old has been linked to the Heat since earlier this year.

However, in his latest podcast, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reports that while Oladipo is interested in a potential move to South Beach, the Heat may have set their eyes on other free agent targets in the future.

“Oladipo has been connected to Miami for months now…my feel is that Miami has their eye on bigger fish. I’m not sure that the interest from Miami is as high as the interest from Oladipo.”

Oladipo, a former winner of the league’s Most Improved Player award, averaged 14.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists, shooting 39.4% from the field in 19 games for Indiana last season. He was coming off a ruptured quad tendon injury in his right knee that sidelined him for more than a year.

He is also in the final year of his contract, and can choose to join a team in free agency at the end of next season even if the Heat doesn’t trade for him.
