The Miami Heat have been linked with Kyrie Irving as of late, and while the star guard opted in to his option with the Brooklyn Nets, that doesn't mean he's going to stay. Irving can still be traded, and given his previous interest with the South Beach franchise, a partnership between them is a legitimate idea.

However, by the looks of it, the Heat do not have much interest in Irving, especially if it means parting ways with Kyle Lowry. As Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald noted, Pat Riley and co. have made it clear with Lowry that they are not trading him for Irving.

While the Heat have issues about Lowry's level of conditioning from last season, the veteran playmaker was actually receptive of it.

There’s no indication that the Heat wants to move on from 36-year-old Kyle Lowry – who is very close with Jimmy Butler – but Pat Riley has said that Lowry needs to get in better shape. The Heat has assured Lowry that it has no intention of trading him for Brooklyn’s Kyrie Irving, according to a source briefed on the situation. We’re told that Lowry wasn’t upset when Riley said publicly that his conditioning must improve.

To be fair, the Heat's lack of interest in Kyrie Irving doesn't come as a surprise. Even when the guard included the team on his list of preferred destinations, Miami had some reservations about chasing him.

In fact there were even talks about how the Heat would be more interested about trading for Kevin Durant if the Irving situation were to blow up.

By the looks of it, the Heat remain committed to Lowry and making his partnership with Jimmy Butler work.
