Russell Westbrook has reportedly given the Oklahoma City Thunder a short list of teams he wishes to play for, and the Miami Heat are at the top of that list, according to Brian Windhorst of ESPN.

The Heat and Thunder have reportedly been discussing a Westbrook trade over the past few days. OKC is expected to move the former MVP before the 2019-20 season starts after trading Paul George to the Los Angeles Clippers:

Russell Westbrook has four years remaining on his contract. The superstar guard has averaged a triple-double three seasons in a row. If the Heat are able to acquire Westbrook, they could become contenders in the Eastern Conference since Miami has four-time All-Star Jimmy Butler on the roster already. The Heat acquired Butler from the Philadelphia 76ers in a sign-and-trade deal.

This past season with the Thunder, Westbrook put up 22.9 points, 11.1 rebounds and 10.7 assists in 73 games. A team with Westbrook and Butler on it would be a fierce, competitive unit, something Heat president Pat Riley and head coach Erik Spoelstra are dying to see in South Beach in the post-Dwyane Wade era.

The entire NBA world is waiting to see where Westbrook will land. It sounds like Russ is hoping he ends up in South Beach with the Heat. We'll see if the explosive guard gets his wish.
