It's official. Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat is now the all-time leader for most blocked shots by a guard, surpassing Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan.

Check out the record-setting block below. Take note that Wade did not block a lay-up which is easier to time. He swatted a jump shot and wasn't called for a foul. That's what you call an elite level defender.

A tweet back in 2017 reveals that Wade was actually eyeing for that number one spot. Back then, he was 81 blocks shy of Jordan's 893.

Now, we can safely say that Dwyane Wade is the best shot-blocking guard in basketball history. And he claimed the record at 37-years-old, in his final season. Perhaps the three-time champion can gun for another year?

The record proves that Wade is not just your typical one-dimensional star. Many NBA players are touted as icons but if you look at their statistics, they are mainly offensive gunners. Wade, however, is different. Back in his prime, his team not only relied on his offensive arsenal but also on his capability to make a defensive play. This is what made Wade the legend that he is today.
