Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade was never supposed to play for the Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers and no one knows that better than Erik Spoelstra.

Things in South Beach were murky back in 2016 when Wade left the Heat for his hometown Bulls after Miami president Pat Riley didn’t offer Wade a deal he liked.

After one season in Chicago, Wade then signed with the Cavs, where he was reuniting with former Heat star LeBron James.

Wade only played 46 games with the Cavs, though, before Cleveland traded him to the Heat, the place he was never supposed to leave in the first place.

Wade is the best player in Miami franchise history. He won three titles in South Beach and averaged 22.0 points per game during the regular season.

As all Hall of Famers do, Wade took his game to another level in the playoffs for the Heat. His scoring average went up to 22.6.

Every Heat fan will always remember where and who they were with when Wade took over the 2006 Finals against the Dallas Mavericks. Wade put up 34.7 points per game in that series and helped Miami erase a 2-0 series deficit to win the title in six games.

Dwyane Wade has a county nicknamed after him in Miami. He will always be the city’s and Heat’s favorite son.
