Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside is not known for his ability to handle the basketball, but on Wednesday night, he went coast-to-coast and dropped the hammer on Toronto Raptors big man Serge Ibaka:

I'm not sure Whiteside will ever be able to do that again, but that was very impressive.

Whiteside came into Wednesday night's action averaging 13.1 points, 13.2 rebounds and 2.6 blocks over 26.5 minutes per game while shooting 51.2 percent from the floor and 44.5 percent from the free-throw line.

The 29-year-old, who played his collegiate basketball at Marshall University, was originally selected by the Sacramento Kings in the second round (33rd pick overall) of the 2010 NBA Draft.

Whiteside's career never got off the ground with the Kings, as he played in just 19 games in two seasons there before finding himself out of the NBA completely for two years.

He returned to the league in 2014-15, signing with the Miami Heat and having an impressive 48 contests, posting 11.8 points, 10.0 boards and 2.6 blocks a night.

The following year, Whiteside proved that his 2015 production was not a fluke, as he registered 14.2 points, 11.8 rebounds and a league-leading 3.7 blocks per game. He turned that stat line into a four-year, $98 million contract that summer.

Since then, Whiteside has not improved, with some actually calling him a liability due to his offensive limitations and his penchant for chasing blocks on the defensive end.

That being said, when you have a 7-footer who is that athletic and can clean the glass and protect the rim like Whiteside, you are going to be in decent shape so long as you surround him with good complementary pieces.
