Miami Heat big man Udonis Haslem gave a heartfelt speech to protesters in Miami on Sunday afternoon.

Haslem said that while there must be justice for George Floyd — who died in police custody on Monday in Minneapolis — and protests against racial injustice, he is not “proud” of how the protests have been orchestrated.

Haslem said he has an obligation both to black citizens in Miami, as well as those in uniform who have proven themselves as established caretakers of the community.

The 17-year Heat veteran also stated that while some members of police forces carry their biases into the field with them, others would be the first ones to answer distress calls and pleas for aid.

Udonis Haslem added he felt he has a responsibility to be a leader, regardless of his status as a basketball player.

Protesters have flooded the streets of Miami, including overtaking the interstate.

The activism in South Beach is but a glint of the protests cropping up in major cities around the country, as the public calls for justice and systemic change in the wake of Floyd's death.
