Hornets point guard Kemba Walker is another basketball player to talk about the social changes that need to take place in today's American society. Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Dwyane Wade, and LeBron James appeared on the ESPY's and the Hornet's owner, the great Michael Jordan has said:

As a proud American, a father who lost his own dad in a senseless act of violence, and a black man, I have been deeply troubled by the deaths of African-Americans at the hands of law enforcement and angered by the cowardly and hateful targeting and killing of police officers.

So, changes need to take places before even more people become targets of racially motivated violence, and Kemba has one question for you: How Can I Help? Kemba is inspired by these men and basketball greats, and wants everyone to step up and be the best person they can be by changing these acts of violence. He wants to use his influence and the global stage of basketball to voice their opinions and defend people who don't have that sort of prestige. If everyone was working together, athletes and regular people would change, and everyone's voice would be heard. We would all be in this together.

Speaking of other great athletes, he mentions Muhammad Ali, Tommie Smith, John Carlos, Jim Brown and Billie Jean King, athletes that used their platforms to “push for social change.” He knows nothing is easy, especially when some athletes can become at risk from what they say and what they do, but the bigger risk is what the majority of people have to do to bring change. Even the NBA has pushed for social change, by moving the games from his basketball hometown of Charlotte to a new city. He's the one that is speaking up. Now he wants us to do so as well.
