In the last few seasons, the NBA has seen the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers meet up in the NBA Finals.

All of this had led to Hall of Famer Michael Jordan to publicly state that every other team in the league was “garbage” in comparison to the Warriors and Cavaliers. These comments have made their way back around to commissioner Adam Silver, who revealed during an interview on ESPN's “Mike & Mike in the Morning” that he laughed Jordan's stance.

“I will begin with Michael's comments. I chuckled a little bit at this notion that maybe the most competitive athlete in the history of all sports is frustrated that his team isn't predicted to win the championship this year. So I take it with a bit of grain of salt and also here's a guy in his last six full seasons as a Chicago Bull won championships. At the time, everyone defined that Bulls team as a super team. I think there is a recognition in this sport with the combination of certain players they are going to be superior.”

As Silver pointed out, there is some hypocrisy with Jordan's comments given that his Bulls' teams during the 1990s were seen as a super team. Granted, this was a different era of the NBA he was heading what seemed like an unbeatable roster.

What should also be noted is that there is more willingness with this current generation of players to join teams together unlike during Jordan's era where it was seen as taboo to join other elite players in the league.

Ultimately, as long as the Warriors and Cavaliers continue to dominate the rest of the competition there will be the constant dialogue about “super teams” ruining the NBA.
