Charlotte Hornets big man Bismack Biyombo has picked up his player option for the 2019-20 campaign, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. Biyombo will make $17 million next season.

Biyombo is coming off a 2018-19 campaign in which he played 54 games and made 32 starts, averaging 4.4 points and 4.6 rebounds over 14.5 minutes per game while shooting 57.1 percent from the floor and 63.7 percent from the free-throw line.

The Hornets acquired Biyombo from the Orlando Magic in a three-way trade last summer.

The 26-year-old, who is from the Congo, was selected by the Sacramento Kings with the seventh overall pick of the 2011 NBA Draft. However, he was immediately traded to Charlotte, who, at that point, were still the Bobcats.

Biyombo spent the first four years of his career with Charlotte's organization before landing with the Toronto Raptors during the summer of 2015.

That ensuing season, Biyombo had a breakout year of sorts, appearing in all 82 contests and registering 5.5 points, 8.0 boards and 1.6 blocks across 22.0 minutes a night while making 54.2 percent of his field goal attempts and 62.8 percent of his foul shots.

He then had a very impressive showing in the 2016 playoffs, and he ended up getting a four-year, $72 million contract with the Orlando Magic that summer.

However, Biyombo never lived up to expectations in Orlando, which led to the Magic dealing him to the Hornets last offseason.

Bismack Biyombo owns career averages of 4.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks through 20.3 minutes per game while connecting on 51.7 percent of his shots and 57.1 percent of his free throws.
