The Charlotte Hornets announced today that center Bismack Biyombo underwent successful arthroscopic surgery to address chronic issues in his left knee. The surgery was performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache of the Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute in Los Angeles, CA. Biyombo is expected to make a full recovery.

Bismack Biyombo's offseason surgery should help him prepare for next year's campaign. He is expected to split the starting duties at the center spot with Cody Zeller once again.

Charlotte needs Biyombo's intimidating presence in the paint. He matches up well with dominant big men such as the Philadelphia 76ers' Joel Embiid and the Indiana Pacers' Myles Turner.

The Hornets missed the playoffs for the third straight year. With All-Star point guard Kemba Walker becoming an unrestricted free agent, Charlotte must find ways to retain him. If not, they may miss the postseason yet again.

The 26-year-old Biyombo has averaged 4.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks during his eight-year NBA career. in the 2018-19 campaign, the Congo native played in 54 games and managed to only put up 4.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.
