The Charlotte Hornets took to social media on Monday to announce that they are bringing back their double pinstripe jerseys for the coming season as part of their Association and Icon Edition lines.

Hornets fans of yesteryear will recognize these beloved kits right away, as they are similar to those that the team wore in the early days of its existence. Players like Muggsy Bogues, Larry Johnson and Alonzo Mourning wowed NBA fans in the famous threads, and now they're coming back.

Check them out:

Charlotte's new uniforms feature the team's beautiful teal colorway, with pinstripes piping right down the front. Purple accents highlight the letters and numbers. Michael Jordan's Jumpman logo sits prominently on the right shoulder, while the team's sponsor, Lending Tree, is on the left. The shorts have a double stripe running down the side that widens into a cell Hornets logo near the bottom. They're not a direct replica of Alexander Julian’s iconic design, but they’re close.

The franchise created a video that tells the story of their famous stripes:

According to ESPN, this is the first full redesign for the uniform since the team rebranded from the Charlotte Bobcats in 2014. The team is expected to keep their purple Statement Edition jerseys from the 2019-20 season, but a new City Edition kit is reportedly in the works.

The Hornets teased more to come:

The Hornets finished the 2019-20 campaign with a 23-42 overall record, which left the team with the 10th-best mark in the Eastern Conference and out of the postseason hunt. Let's see if these new threads have them inspired in the coming season.
