As James Borrego tries to fill out the rest of his Charlotte Hornets coaching staff, one guy that is expected to join him is former Suns interim coach Jay Triano.

With the coaching experience he has, he will probably be added as the lead assistant or associate head coach, whatever title they decide to give him. Triano coached 79 games this last year with the Phoenix Suns and had a record of 21-58. He did get some consideration for the Suns job this offseason but was informed after the first round of interviews he didn't make the cut for the second round.

Triano also was the head coach of the Toronto Raptors from 2008-11 but he didn't have much success, finishing with a record of 87-142 in his two and half years in charge.

For Triano, with all that experience as a head coach, if nothing else he should really be a good guy to bounce ideas off of, and help Borrego make the transition from assistant to head coach.

When Triano was with the Suns he did a lot with the young guys, and the guy who saw the most strides with him in charge was Josh Jackson. Devin Booker also learned a lot from him and was a big fan.

“I love everything Jay has done since Day 1 that he’s been here,” Devin Booker said during the season via AZCentral. “It’s not an easy position with the young team we have. The basketball experience we have is not up to par. We have a lot of guys that are still just learning the basics.”
