Amid new details surfacing about Miles Bridges' domestic violence charges, the Charlotte Hornets have released a statement to address the matter.

The Hornets noted that they are aware of the charges against Bridges and are looking into the matter. However they refused to comment on the issue since it is a legal matter.

“We are aware of the charges that were filed today against Miles Bridges. These are very serious charges that we will continue to monitor. As this is a legal matter, we will have no further comment at this time,” the Hornets said, via Rod Boone of The Charlotte Observer.

For those unaware of the situation, Miles Bridges turned himself in to authorities last month after reportedly beating the mother of his children. While he has been released after posting a $130,000 bail, the investigation on the issue continues.

On Tuesday, it was revealed that aside from the domestic violence charges, Bridges has also been slapped with “one felony count of injuring a child’s parent and two felony counts of child abuse under circumstances or conditions likely to cause great bodily injury or death,” per TMZ.

Bridges is facing years in prison if convicted, and it could very well spell the end of his career with the Hornets and in the NBA. The league takes such allegations seriously, so there could be punishments heading his way if he's proven guilty of the charges.

The 24-year-old forward is a restricted free agent, and while the Hornets have been rumored to pull the qualifying offer they gave to Bridges before the incident, the team has yet to take action. Considering their statement, it's likely Charlotte is awaiting the verdict on the allegations before making their decision.
