Former Charlotte Hornets guard and current Chicago Bulls TV analyst Kendall Gill says “there's going to be some hard feelings in the beginning” after Kemba Walker signed with the Boston Celtics.

Gill believes Walker wanted to return to the Hornets, but that the opportunity to win with the Celtics was too great for the All-Star guard to pass up.

“There’s going to be some hard feelings in the beginning,” Gill told Roderick Boone of The Athletic. “It’s going to take some time, even though Kemba may not admit it. But it may take some time for him to be at peace with the decision that he made going to the Boston Celtics.

“Kemba is the greatest Hornet of all time at this point. And when you let the greatest player of all time in franchise history go, and walk and go to another team, it’s not only hurtful to that player. But I know it’s hurtful to the fan base and probably hurtful to the front office as well. I don’t know what the negotiations were. I’m not privy to that information. But I know both sides at this point are probably really, really sad that this happened.”

Walker agreed to a four-year deal with the Celtics on the first day of free agency, ending his stellar career with the Hornets. Kemba is the all-time leading scorer in Hornets franchise history. The organization failed Walker, though, because it never put enough talent around the explosive scorer.

Walker made the playoffs only twice with the Hornets and never had an All-Star teammate. As Kendall Gill says, it's unfortunate Kemba Walker couldn't end his career in Charlotte after all the love the fans and Walker had for each other.
