Charlotte Hornets rookie LaMelo Ball has lived up to his hype this season and is considered the frontrunner to win this year’s Rookie of the Year award. Ball has certainly received the praise he deserves except from his father, LaVar Ball

In an interview with ESPN LA, the father of three said that he expects his son LaMelo to play better than he is right now. LaVar has seen the Hornets rookie play in multiple international leagues and so what LaMelo is showing in the NBA right now is subpar compared to what Lavar expects.

“What I expect is way better than what he (LaMelo) is doing because I’ve seen him play. Like I said everybody likes to be like oh he played for his father in the JBA league and man, there ain’t nothing like experience. We went overseas and 15 different countries and he was killing grown men. Melo has always been playing against grown men and the only difference now is that it’s a different league,” says LaVar.

LaMelo, who is currently averaging 15 points, five rebounds, and six assists per game apparently has more in his bag, according to LaVar.

“You guys are seeing this stuff and going oh my god he’s killing it. Man, Melo can do so much more. If he played with his two brothers, it’s a wrap. You guys would have to change the game of basketball if all three of them get on the same team,” added LaVar.

LaVar clearly wants to see all his sons suit up for one team but this hasn’t really been done before. His second son, LiAngelo, hasn’t played in the NBA yet so his wish can’t be fulfilled anytime soon. Nevertheless, if LaVar says that LaMelo has more to show then it’s safe to say that Hornets fans have some exciting times ahead of them.
