CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Hornets All-Star point guard Kemba Walker made it clear that he does not want to talk about his impending 2019 free agency all year long at the team's media day on Monday. His opening address to the media let it be known that he would not be willing to answer questions on the subject moving forward.

“Before we start, I just gonna say, I know I'm going to get asked free agent questions,” said Walker. “I will answer anything you guys want me to answer, but this is the last time. For the rest of the year, no more free agency questions, please.”

Right off the bat, reporters inquired about the kind of conversations Walker has had with the Hornets over the offseason. Walker said he wasn't letting free agency become a distraction for him. His focus is on being confident in his game and putting together a good year with his team. Walker believes his game will continue to evolve in the new fast-paced offense James Borrego is installing as the new head coach.

“As the years go, the game just slows down for me even more. I think my game is just on. I know where guys are and I know how to read the game a lot differently. Coach JB (Borrego) has the floor open for myself to get into the lane and create. I'm really looking forward to that,” Walker continued.

Kemba Walker is now a two-time NBA All-Star and will get to show other elite players around his city for All-Star Weekend in 2019. Walker, a native of The Bronx, acknowledged that Charlotte is considerably smaller than his hometown. However, he plans on showing all the high-profile visitors a good time.

“It's dope. Of course, I want to be a part of it. Welcoming all the other All-Stars to the city and things of that nature. I know the city is excited, and I'm looking forward to it,” said Walker.

As the Hornets' all-time leading scorer, Walker has established himself as one of the greatest to ever lace his kicks up in Charlotte. He is confident in his future and has every intention of being a Hornet for life.
