Charlotte Hornets point guard Kemba Walker becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer for the first time in his NBA career.

Walker says the chance to win is his top priority going into free agency.

The Hornets missed the playoffs this season. Walker has only been to the postseason twice with Charlotte.

Walker was nothing short of spectacular this season for the Hornets. The All-Star averaged 25.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game while shooting 43.4 percent from the field, 35.6 percent from beyond the arc and 84.4 percent from the free-throw line.

Walker has consistently said he wants to spend his entire career in Charlotte. The Hornets, though, have to surround the explosive guard with more talent. Walker scored 60 points in November against the Philadelphia 76ers and Charlotte still lost. That can't happen.

Walker scored 43 points on Wednesday against the Orlando Magic at home. The Hornets still lost. It might have been Walker's last game with Charlotte. If it was, it pretty much summed up his career with the franchise, as he put up monster numbers in a losing effort because of not having enough help.

The Los Angeles Lakers are widely expected to pursue Walker.

The Lakers are looking to get another star next to LeBron James.
