Right after being selected as the third overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Hornets, LaMelo Ball addressed Buzz City fans for the first time.

Ball has long been considered a top prospect since his high school days in Chino Hills. When he declared for the 2020 NBA Draft, analysts placed him within the top five. Since the 2020 draft class lacked a consensus first overall pick, some even believed that Ball could be selected first. But with the forecasts done and Ball officially an NBA player with the Hornets, many are excited to see what the youngest son of LaVar has to offer.
Much like his brother Lonzo Ball who plays for the New Orleans Pelicans, LaMelo possesses next-level court vision and passing skills. What makes it more impressive is that Ball actually stands 6-foot-7, good enough for the shooting guard spot. But Ball is a point guard by heart, and on paper, this will likely create tons of mismatches for defenses.
LaMelo Ball will be joining an up-and-coming Hornets squad which hasn't made the playoffs since 2016. The James Borrego-coached roster is headlined by the likes of Terry Rozier, Devonte Graham, Cody Zeller, Bismack Biyombo, and Nicolas Batum. Though Rozier was the team's starting point guard last season, it's likely that Ball will be the primary orchestrator on offense.
The Hornets just won 23 games in the shortened 2019-20 season. With Ball in the fold, will they be able to rack up more wins and possibly qualify for the playoffs?
