The Charlotte Hornets scored a huge victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday, 102-94. One of the highlights of the win came early in the game, with Miles Bridges hitting rookie LaMelo Ball with an impressive full-court pass from the inbound.

This sequence prompted a hilarious exchange between the two teammates on Twitter, as the two joked about their quarterback-receiver connection:

To be fair, Bridges did look like an NFL quarterback on the play, as he threw an outstanding pinpoint pass to a wide-open Ball, who finished the play with an uncontested lay-up.

Ball had another impressive showing off the bench for the Hornets, finishing with 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting, to go along with two triples, eight rebounds, five assists, and just one turnover in 24 minutes of play. The third overall pick has arguably been the most impressive rookie early in the campaign. Ball had a terrible NBA debut, but has since more than made up for his lackluster start.

It was another offseason recruit that stole the show for Charlotte on Wednesday, though, with Gordon Hayward amassing a career-high 44 points on 15-of-25 from the floor and 10-of-12 from the charity stripe. The former All-Star also added four triples, seven boards, two assists, a steal, a block, and just one turnover in 39 minutes of action.

Wednesday's win was the Hornets' first victory of the new year, following three consecutive losses to kick-off 2021. They get Thursday off but will be back in action on Friday and Saturday in a back-to-back set. Charlotte faces off against the New Orleans Pelicans first, before hosting the Hawks in a rematch on Saturday.
