Charlotte Hornets young superstar LaMelo Ball had quite a debut in his second season in the NBA with an MVP-like performance on Wednesday. Ball had the entire Buzz City chanting “MVP, MVP!” as the reigning ROTY exploded for 31 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists in the Hornets' huge 123-122 win over the visiting Indiana Pacers.

After the game, when asked if he had heard all the MVP chants during his impressive season opener, Ball kept his cool and admitted that he loved every bit of it.

“Yeah, I heard it,” Ball responded (via House of Highlights). “The city is turnt, I love it.”

Ball was absolutely incredible on Wednesday night against the Pacers. The 2020 NBA All-Rookie First Team member knocked down seven three-pointers and was clutch as the Hornets battled back in this one with a huge 24-0 run in the third quarter. Ball was responsible for 12 of Charlotte's 33 points in that crucial third quarter as the Hornets ended up making the right plays down the stretch to give them their first win of the season.

After picking him as the franchise's second overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, the entire city of Charlotte instantly fell in love with the crafty court general with Ball bringing in a ton of pizzazz and youth in his game. It hasn't been long since LaMelo Ball has entered the league but, clearly, he's been one of the best young talents in the NBA right now.
