The outspoken LaVar Ball might have spilled the beans on the current situation of his youngest son in LaMelo who is serving as a rookie with the Charlotte Hornets. According to him, the 19-year-old is secretly unhappy with his role on the team during the early stages of his first season in the league.

“My thing is he ain't happy with that, but he ain't go show that,” Ball told TMZ Sports. “If I train you to be the best and always been starting all your life — here is what they don't get. My boys are not freakin' role players! They superstars! Let them do what they do!”

Ball also fired shots at Hornets head coach James Borrego, who he blames for not being able to unleash the full potential of LaMelo, especially with his off the bench role.

“But, if your mentality ain't like that, guess what? It's hard to coach my boys and tap into the best because you don't have a killer mindset.”

LaMelo Ball has always been the main attraction wherever he went prior to his stint in the NBA. However, he currently finds himself in a different situation as he is nowhere near being the star of the Hornets squad. Though, this may just be LaVar talking up one of his sons once again.

The rookie is currently leading the second unit of the squad and relieving the team's starters Devonte' Graham and Terry Rozier for both guards spots. Ball has yet to start a single game in the season but is still averaging solid norms of 11.5 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 5.9 assists through 24.6 minutes in 15 appearances.

Despite seeing limited action on the floor, Ball still manages to make an impact as he is already emerging as one of the top rookies in this year's draft class. However, a rebuilding team like the Hornets will certainly need more time to develop their chemistry and find consistency on the floor.

The team is currently on a four-game losing skid to account for a 6-9 record for the 13th spot in the Eastern Conference. Hopefully, LaMelo Ball will get to have more opportunities to showcase his capabilities on the floor and ultimately prove that he is indeed more than a role player in the league.
