The Charlotte Hornets pulled out a 126-114 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks led by LaMelo Ball's career-high 27-point performance on Saturday night. With his big game coupled with Terry Rozier leaving with an ankle injury, perhaps head coach James Borrego would consider finally giving a starting nod to their no. 3 overall pick.

Borrego, however, remained noncommittal on giving LaMelo Ball the first start of his NBA career.

There is a huge possibility that Rozier sits out Monday's contest against the Miami Heat. So the window to give LaMelo Ball the start is certainly there.

LaMelo Ball's father, the unfiltered LaVar Ball, has openly expressed his disappointment over Borrego not starting his youngest son. The Ball patriarch argued that if LaMelo is indeed their next franchise star, they should be giving him the keys as soon as now.

A majority of Hornets fans aren't appreciative of Borrego's tactics, either. They believe LaMelo Ball is the real deal and he has certainly flashed that early on in his NBA career. Borrego, however, remains adamant that going through this slow process while coming off the bench will be good for the 19-year old.

As for LaMelo Ball, he hasn't expressed any displeasure so far and has remained professional about his role. Nonetheless, he certainly made his claim by letting his game talk for himself.

Ball showcased his star potential in the biggest way against an elite team like the Bucks. Aside from his career-best scoring output, Ball also tallied five rebounds, nine assists, and four steals. He also shot an efficient 8-of-10 from the field, made two triples, and converted all of his nine shots from the charity stripe.

The Hornets are one of several teams in the Eastern Conference fighting for one of the last few playoff spots available. The season is still relatively young, but the Hornets and Ball are clearly within striking distance of a playoff berth.
