Charlotte Hornets rookie sensation LaMelo Ball just came out with quite a revelation during his recent exit interview. As it turns out, Ball's wrist injury that kept him out for several weeks was not yet fully healed when he returned to action right before the start of the playoffs.

According to Ball himself, the movement on his right wrist still remains limited to this very day:

“The wrist can’t bend all the way,” Ball said before mimicking how it impeded his follow-through on his shot, via Jacob Rude of USA TODAY. “It’s going to get there. Trying to work every day, just getting better every day.”

Did the Hornets rush Ball back too early? When he underwent surgery in late March there was some belief was that he was done for the season. However, he was able to recover quicker than initially projected which is why he was able to return to action for Charlotte to close out the regular season.

Fortunately, it does not seem like Ball aggravated the injury. However, the risk factor here is undeniably significant. Ball could have easily re-injured his shooting hand, which could have had an impact on both his immediate and long-term future.

To be fair, the Hornets were gunning for a postseason spot, and they were actually able to secure a play-in berth. The team's medical staff certainly weighed the risks involved, and based on their assessment, they came to the conclusion that letting Ball play was the right decision to make.
