Charlotte Hornets forward Marvin Williams has been dealing with a shoulder injury since December 2nd, but it sounds like the former UNC Tarheel is close to making a return.

Though Williams hasn't officially been cleared to play in Friday's game against the Denver Nuggets, it sounds like his progression is going well.

Marvin Williams injured his shoulder last Sunday. He was in obvious pain and left the arena in a sling. MRI exams that were taken later confirmed it was a right shoulder strain, and he was expected to miss roughly one week of action. However, his status been upgraded to questionable, which means he could play against the Nuggets. Additional information should be released shortly before tip-off.

In his 23 appearances with the Hornets this season (all starts), Williams has racked up averages of 8.3 points on 42.4 percent shooting fro the field (34.0 percent from beyond the arc), 5.1 rebounds and just under one assist (0.9) in 24.8 minutes per outing.

If Marvin Williams is not cleared to play on Friday night, Miles Bridges, who scored 16 points, eight rebounds, one assist and two blocks against the Pelicans while filling in for Williams, could see a few more minutes. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, who started in Williams' place against the Timberwolves on Wednesday, would also see an up-tick in usage rate.

Friday night's Hornets-Nuggets game is set to tip inside the Spectrum Center at 7:00 p.m. EST.
