Charlotte Hornets prized rookie Miles Bridges is gaining a lot of attention with his impressive dunks and endless energy and hustle. Come All-Star Weekend, Bridges says that he is open to joining the 2019 Slam Dunk Contest and turn heads with his aerial display.

Rod Boone of The Athletic tweeted out this interesting news, along with a video showing Bridges practicing his dunks after practice.

Bridges, 20, was drafted 12th pick overall by the Los Angeles Clippers during the recently concluded draft. He was then traded to the Hornets for fellow rookie Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the 11th pick of that draft.

The 6-foot-7 combo forward was not expected by many to log in minutes for the Hornets, a team already beefed up by more experienced wing players like Nicolas Batum, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, and Dwayne Bacon. Still, Bridges already found a way to have a consistent spot on the rotation, averaging 17.2 minutes per game this season.

New Hornets head coach James Borrego pointed out Bridges' maturity as a factor for giving playing minutes to the young stud. Rick Bonnell of The Charlotte Observer wrote a story about Borrego's inclusion of Bridges to the rotation.

“He was the bright spot. He brought a spirit to the game, he’s trying to do the right thing. He talks, he communicates,” Borrego said of Bridges, the 12th overall pick in the June draft.

“He looks more like a veteran sometimes than guys who have been in this league for many, many years.”

The Hornets are standing on top of the Southeast Division with a 3-3 standing and will play the Philadephia 76ers tonight.
