The Charlotte Hornets have been without Miles Bridges for nearly two weeks due to the NBA's health and safety protocols, but now the forward is ready to get back to his dunking ways as the regular season comes to an end. Sports Illustrated's Rod Boone says Bridges will be back against the New York Knicks on Saturday.

Bridges has missed the last six games. The Hornets have been scuffling without him, going just 2-4 in his absence as they desperately try to hold the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference. The Indiana Pacers are breathing down Charlotte's neck with an identical 33-37 record.

Staying in that eighth spot is crucial for Bridges and the Hornets given the play-in tournament setup. If Charlotte stays at No. 8, a date with the Boston Celtics for the No. 7 seed in the playoffs would be on deck. If the Hornets slip back to No. 9, they'd have to win two games to get the No. 8 seed in the playoffs.

The 23-year-old Bridges has enjoyed a solid season in Year 3 in the league, averaging 12.4 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 29.0 minutes per game. Most impressively, he has bumped up his shooting percentages to 50.6% overall and 40.5% on 3-pointers.

And, of course, Bridges is best known for his high-flying theatrics. He's one of the best dunkers in the entire NBA, and he's a perfect match for the Hornets' lively announcing crew.

Saturday's game at Madison Square Garden against the surging Knicks will be a tough one, so it will be good to have Miles Bridges back in the lineup for it. Charlotte then finishes the season in the nation's capital against the Washington Wizards. The Wizards are just a game back of the Hornets and Pacers, so that game could mean a lot.
