The Charlotte Hornets were one of the teams who had at least three picks in the 2019 NBA Draft held last night. They selected PJ Washington with the 12th overall pick, Cody Martin at no. 36, and Jalen McDaniels at no. 52. However, Hornets general manager Mitch Kupchak revealed that it is highly likely for all these guys to spend a large amount of time in the G-League next season.

This is an understandable decision by the Hornets, as they are in a win-now mode. Although they are not expected to make a big splash in free agency, Charlotte is going to do everything in its power to re-sign Kemba Walker and provide him with much-needed help as the team guns for the playoffs next season.

Of course, things will change if Walker leaves the Hornets this summer, especially since there are reports that the Los Angeles Lakers will reportedly make him a top priority in July as well. If the eight-year veteran chooses LA over Charlotte, then the latter will be in rebuild mode, which means that the rookies will get significant playing time with the team.

The Hornets are hellbent on keeping Walker, and the All-Star and All-NBA guard has made it clear that Charlotte is his priority this summer. He even said that he is willing to take less money if that will help the team build a more competitive roster around him. If Kemba stays, the rookies might have to wait a little longer before making their official NBA debut.
