In his first campaign with the Charlotte Hornets, former All-Star center Dwight Howard has put together quite a promising start.

After the Hornets' tilt with the Washington Wizards the other night where Howard scored 26 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, head coach Scott Brooks had some high praise for the 31-year-old's play this season.

Dwight Howard has been more than a reliable source of production averaging 15.2 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game. This includes recording nine double-double, which he is currently the active leader with 675 in his career. A huge part of that has been him being a factor on the boards with 220 rebounds through that stretch, which is also the most ever by a player in franchise history.

The Hornets center also has a streak of five straight games with 15-plus rebounds, which was also the first such streak in franchise history, tying the longest span with that mark in the last 45 years matching Hall of Famer Charles Barkley. Dwight Howard also tallied the most rebounds in a single game in team history with 22 against the Milwaukee Bucks on Nov. 23 since Al Jefferson had 23 back on Dec. 23, 2013.

Remember, this is the same guy whom the Atlanta Hawks wanted to get rid of so bad that they accepted a bag of peanuts from the Hornets.

With Howard playing at a high level next to rising star Kemba Walker, the Hornets should make some noise in the Eastern Conference as this season wears on.
