Charlotte Hornets guard Terry Rozier suffered a sprained left ankle and is out for Monday's preseason game against the Miami Heat. Rozier will be reevaluated later in the week, and the Hornets are hoping he'll be ready to go for the start of the regular season.

Rozier is coming off a career year with Charlotte. The 27-year-old averaged over 20 points per game for the first time in his career, and he also handed out a career-high 4.2 assists per game in 2020-21. He was also pretty efficient shooting the ball, hitting 45.0% of his field goal attempts and nearly 39% from 3-point range on over eight attempts per game.

The Hornets made it to the play-in tournament last season, only to get smoked by the Indiana Pacers. Charlotte has high hopes going into Year 2 of the LaMelo Ball experience, with Rozier again expecting to play a big role. He was rewarded in the offseason with a four-year extension worth over $96 million.

The Hornets will have plenty of competition for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference this season. They'll need Rozier, Ball and Gordon Hayward to stay healthy and be at their best in order to have a great campaign and take the next step.
