As Michael Jordan and Mitch Kupchak look for the next guy to lead the Charlotte Hornets, they have a few candidates they have set up for interviews. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, David Fizdale and Ettore Messina will get interviews in the next few days.

For Fizdale, he was one of the most respected assistant coaches in the league before he got the Memphis Grizzlies head coaching job in 2016. He only made it 19 games in his second year though before being fired. He had a record of 50-51 when he was let go by the Grizzlies.

For Fizdale, he is known as a defensive coach and a really good one at that. He also has been known to be a good player's coach although he did have a pretty publicized fallout with Marc Gasol that probably is what cost him his job.

For Messina, he was one of the most respected EuroLeague coaches in history having four championships before coming over to the NBA as an assistant coach. He also was a coach of the Italian National team in the 1990's.  He is currently an assistant for Gregg Popovich and the San Antonio Spurs and has been the acting head coach since Popovich's wife passed away.

In terms of the Hornets, it will be interesting to see what direction the team decides to go in. Will they go with Fizdale and give him another chance or go with a guy who has no head coaching experience in the NBA? Or is there another guy on their radar that they will decide to go with.
