As the offseason draws nearer, the future of Charlotte Hornets All-Star point guard Kemba Walker continues to be one of the most interesting narratives in this summer's free agency.

According to NBA insider Sam Amick of The Athletic, the likelihood of Walker signing with another team this summer outweighs the odds of the 28-year-old penning an extension with the team that drafted him ninth overall some eight years ago:

At this point, based on scuttlebutt around the league but without direct clarity from his side, it feels like he's more likely to leave than stay.

While Amick does not cite any of his sources or provide a potential landing spot for the three-time All-Star, he is a reliable source of insider information. There is certainly nothing set in stone here, but this is the type of report that we simply cannot overlook.

Walker has been outstanding throughout the season, averaging a career-best 25.0 points (on 42.8 percent shooting), 3.3 3-pointers, 4.2 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 1.3 steals, 0.4 blocks, and 2.6 turnovers in 34.8 minutes of action.

However, despite his heroics, Charlotte has struggled to establish itself as one of the contenders in the Eastern Conference. The Hornets are currently 29-35 and on the outside looking in of the playoff picture. They have fallen to the 10th spot in the East and are currently one game behind the eighth-seeded Miami Heat.

It's going to be the biggest summer of Walker's career, and we can likely expect a free-for-all if he indeed decides against signing an extension in Charlotte.
