It has been three seasons since Julyan Stone last played in the NBA as he has continued his career overseas during that span.

However, it appears that his latest attempt to return to the league was blocked by his current contract with the European team Reyer Venezia due to no NBA opt-out clause in his current deal, according to Emilio Carchia of Sportando:

Julyan Stone recently signed a two-year contract extension with Reyer Venezia. But the guard has a two-year offer from Charlotte Hornets he would love to accept.

Stone has his father seriously sick and he wants to stay in the USA also for this reason. Venezia is not willing to let him leave because in the contract Stone recently re-signed, he doesn’t have any opt out clause.

Stone had an offer on the table to play for the Charlotte Hornets that would likely put him as the third-string point guard on the team. What makes matters more troubling for him is that his father is ill, which means he will have to honor his two-year extension with Reyer Venezia.

In light of that report, Stone took to Instagram to give more insight on the matter and his father's current health condition:

This is a situation that is much worse than meets the eye as Stone finds himself stuck with the team unable to help his father in any manner. It has gone far beyond the basketball court given the current state of his father's health.

Hopefully, things can reach a resolution on both sides of the matter before things get any worse.
