With just a few hours left before the trade deadline comes to a close, the Charlotte Hornets have reportedly been in talks to offload big man Frank Kaminsky in a potential trade deal. This is according to Sporting News beat writer Sean Deveney.

Kaminsky has seen his role with the Hornets take a significant hit this season, with the 25-year-old averaging only 11.3 minutes in just 24 appearances this season. This is quite a drop for the fourth-year big, as he had been averaging 23.5 minutes per game in his previous three years with Charlotte.

Kaminsky has fallen behind in the pecking order, with head coach James Borrego opting to also give significant minutes to other bigs on the team, namely, Cody Zeller, Bismack Biyombo, and Willy Hernangomez. There definitely is a logjam in the five-spot for the Hornets, and Kaminsky has been the odd man out.

Zeller has been Borrego's choice as the team's starting center, but despite the fact that the 7-footer had recently been sidelined for a month due to a hand injury, Kaminsky still failed to secure a significant role in the team's rotation. His services may have been deemed as excess to requirements, which explains why the Hornets are trying to flip him before the deadline.

In his first three years with Charlotte, the former Wisconsin standout averaged 10.0 points (on 41.2 percent shooting), 1.2 three-pointers, 4.1 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game. His skill set might have a number of teams interested, but the fact that he is on an expiring deal might be even more enticing for a team looking to clear some cap space this summer.
