A lot of trades happened during draft night, where picks and some players were dealt as part of teams’ plans of improving their roster for next season.

The Charlotte Hornets, who recently acquired Dwight Howard, completed another deal on Thursday, this time giving up the 31st selection, Duke’s Frank Jackson, to the New Orleans Pelicans for the 40th pick on the night and cash considerations.

With the Pelicans wanting the services of Jackson, it made sense for them to strike a deal, as they still received a second rounder in exchange plus cash, which will be valuable to them heading into free agency.

In his lone season with the Blue Devils, Jackson averaged 10.9 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. Despite only standing 6-foot-3, he has the ability to play both guard spots and is a good defender, especially with his 6-foot-7 wingspan.
